Kwame Nkrumah Hall Alumni Association

History

Kwame Nkrumah Hall (KNH) was established in October, 1998. Ostensibly, it has been indelibly registered on the minds of many men and women all over the world and Africa especially Ghana, due to the fact that Osagyefo, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah though died several years ago, his name still permeates in the corridors of every corner as a living legend.

The Hall of Excellence became interested in maintaining contact with their alumni almost as soon as the first graduates left their alma maters. In fact, this encouraged the Hall Council and Mangement to estalished a special office called Counselling and Alumni Relations (CARE) Office mandated to strengthen alumni relations and counseling in the Hall in 2008 under the auspices of Prof. Peter K. Kwapong’s administration. There were alumni directories through those years, although we know by the periodic lists of “lost sheep” and articles in the publications about difficulties in maintaining contact with alumni, that the alumni lists became increasingly incomplete through the years.

As part of the mandate of the counselling and alumni relations (CARE) office to strengthen alumni relations, the CARE office’s activities over the years necessitated the formation of the Kwame Nkrumah Hall Alumni Association. On the 4th December, 2011, a five (5) member interim committee was mandated to get the KNH Alumni Association off ground with substantive executives in conjunction with the CARE Office.

The members of the interim committee include: Courage Besah-Adanu-Chairman, David Amponsah Wilson, Kwasi Asemanyi, Mrs. Vida Adjeley Akah-Tetteh, Grace Adarkwah Yiadom, Eliza Oduraa Ampofo, Elizabeth Oduraa Ampofo and Stephen Ekow Essel.

The mandate of the committee was to seek to the formation of the association, its registration, draft a constitution, open an account, organize a home coming and to get substantive executives. On the 10th of March, 2012, the association was formally formed with 71 registered members. These registered members ranged from 1999 to 2011 badge of students.

The KNH Alumni Association was dully registered under the mother association of the University of Cape Coast.

A bank account was subsequently opened at Zenith bank UCC with account name: Kwame Nkrumah Hall Alumni Association and Account Number: 9061403774.
